This chapter is packed with a lot of lessons but my first train of thought is — GOD is bringing discipline to them from the North right? Are those in the North themselves of GOD? Do they not worship false god? I’m saying we should not be too quick to judge someone GOD is trying to purge sin from because He loves them; the person laughing might be neglected because why are you both doing same thing and only one is getting disciplined ? Does this make sense ? —— Proverbs tells us that GOD only chastise His children meaning those that do not consider themselves a child of GOD might be swimming in a sin and enjoying life (so to say) don’t envy them, rather pity them (psalm 73); a disciplined Judah is better than a thriving Babylon (if this makes sense).
Another thing here is; as a believer, we must learn to call a spade a spade in Vs.14-15, the priest offense was trying to manage the people’s sin, covering up for them, not telling them the truth so they people were not ashamed and did not blush ———— The blush here is not ☺️ but rather 😳 Blushing is a physiological response characterized by the reddening of the face, often due to emotional stimuli such as embarrassment, shame, or modesty; so blushing is mentioned as a physical manifestation of inner feelings, often associated with shame or guilt (Google). So the people sinned and enjoyed it, without remorse! When one gets there, that person is spiritually dead, so let’s help people tell them what they are doing is not okay, don’t say it’s pride, call it abnormal sexual orientation #IYKYK 😏 (well put it in a less offensive way I.e correct in love but still say the truth)
Lastly, from Vs.20 we see that these people were still paying tithes, offering in church and all that but GOD is saying, that’s not the point, i don’t need that, I need your heart then those things will come out of love not out of routine. People will steal and pay tithes 😂 just enjoy your money jeje or repent now —— GOD is more interested in your obedience and love than sacrifice. (Some will say they are yahoo boys but helps people 😂 bros they need to repent)

@Eyitope I've also been thinking about why from the north. Why not from the south or east or west... you explained better. One of the reasons why God is so great and merciful is because he's always patient with us v11 even Jeremiah was tired of the people I'm very sure if Jeremiah were to be God he would have destroyed everything

@Eyitope Hmmm! “A disciplined Judah is better than a thriving Babylon” rhema!!!
That’s why we can’t do what the people of the world are doing, we know we’ll get some bla-la for it.
You know it’s funny how God uses these gentile nations to discipline Israel and still later punish those nations for touching Israel.

@Eyitope Hmmm, it does make sense.
Disobedience thus have consequences. For eberynof our actions there will always be the consequences.
Another thing we see here is Gods justice system, trying to correct them for erring but this isnwjat love is and we have talked about this before that disciplines from God is not a punishment but because of his love. The father chastise those tlhe love.
We talked about this to in chapter 3 that Judah was thinking, or one could think they are better than Isreal but they have done worse thing than them.

The most dangerous state is to sin and feel nothing (a seared conscience). We should pray to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit.
Vs 16 In a world full of new ideologies and "trendy" spirituality, believers must return to the foundational, unchanging truths of Scripture (the old paths) to find true rest.
Let’s ask ourselves these questions:
1. Am I comfortable in my sins, or do I quickly repent when my conscience is pricked?
2. Am I looking for comfortable preaching, or truth-telling preaching?
3. Is my service to God just a ritual, or does it come from a heart that listens to Him?

@Moshood if you sin and you feel nothing, you are farrrr. We don't want to get here. PD will say something I don't know how exactly( I forgot the word) but, it was like coming to God will not take away your ability to sin but your ability to enjoy the sin.
I'm a looking for who will sermonize me🤔🤔🤔or the truth

@Moshood i have a question about this 3rd one.
I just want to know, how do we put a balance to this thing. We know that our devotion with God should be focused on building relationship with him, intimacy hence why we serve him and Ty to do all that he command us to do. E.g mediating on the word, praying. Which should not be a ritual definitely. But sometimes we don't want to, we don't feel like but we have to do it, and we be like its about consistency let me at least do it even if it is for 15min🤷♀️🤷♀️. Isn't that like ritual. Saying I have been doing it, I must do it.

@Faithful A ritual is a religious or solemn ceremony consisting of a series of actions performed according to a prescribed order! The focused here is “prescribed order”; the question is “do you have a prescribed order of relating with your siblings or parents? I guess NO, you relate out of love ❤️ so the idea is about intimacy, I have to talk to my lover today and sometimes, your lover will say “dear, go and sleep”. So it’s the understanding behind what you are doing that makes it relational and not ritual. —— if you don’t do your study due to school activities or other stuffs, GOD sees and knows, so you talk as daughter to Father and sleep then resume next day knowing you have rest and peace in the Father. —— if i don’t pay tithe, things will be tight for me (ritual) I pay my tithe because my Father loves me and I love Him, He owns all, gave me strength to make wealth, it’s to show honor and appreciation (Relationship)
