One thing I noticed here that we might need to pay attention to is the pattern at which GOD sometimes instructs. It sounds like half instruction or incomplete, but if you don’t listen to the first one, the second one might not come I.e GOD did not tell Abraham leave your Father’s house, go the Canaan, I want to make you Father of Nations, I will give you kids in your old age and all other things that happened; the instruction might be just to pray, without prayer points or what is about to happen or even sometimes sit down — if you are like me waiting for complete instruction, well it might not come oooo (just realizing that) it is as we move with trust to obey the first, that others will follow. Note: it doesn’t have to make sense to us, imagine buying a belt and putting it around your waist 🤷🏾‍♂️ Truly without Faith, we cannot please GOD. Also it’s lovely how GOD is filling Jeremiah with words and even response to what they will ask. I had to go back to Chapter 1 where he was saying: i cannot speak, for I am a youth and GOD said “whatever I command you, you shall speak” — all GOD needs is a vessel that is available, consecrated and obedient, every other thing is a plus not main. — imagine Jeremiah in the same city with them telling them I will be crying for you when they come and invade you; he knows for sure he won’t be among them. — I pray we become more available for GOD to use.

@Eyitope Amen!! This is actually so profound. If you are waiting for complete instruction it might not come hmmm🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔. Have you actually obeyed what he said first. I actually do understand what you are saying @Eyiyope but then where do we put the part of when God give you and instruction, wait and ask for more questions like how do you want me to do it, like should I pursue, should I overtake??? Maybe what you mean is you can't be waiting for second instruction if you have not run with the first The case study you used Abraham, when God ask him to go sacrifice his son if he did not run with that instruction, the second instruction of don't kill your son, look i have provided you with a ram will not come ooo.

@Eyitope There’s this way God speaks to Abraham that is specific but yet vague. Something like “ to a land that I will show you……” So many of us want God to tell us the whole plan so that we can do it. The point is not even doing what God wants, but doing it with God and through His power. We are on a journey with God, we don’t just take assignment and orders from him. So at any point in the journey we can ask Him for directions. Abraham knew that he could ask God for the next step at any point in the journey, that’s why he didn’t ask the whole detail after receiving the first instruction. This is something I learnt in my personal devotion and I hope this answers your question too @Faithful?

@Faithful I’m glad Moshood already gave a perfect response, obviously you can ask questions but it’s in obedience not rebellion.

At first verse 1 caught my attention and I was like why is God giving instruction of buying a belt?? But then reading further until verse 13 I realized the whole idea of buying a belt is more like a parable. So the belt as it was stated in NIV was normally worn close to the body around the waist and it make sense that God actually asked him to put it round his waist. But then the whole buying, putting around waist and hiding it depict the kind of relationship Isreal is supposed to have with God, they should stick close to him but instead they draw far from him.(which is also the kind of relationship we should have with God) He removed the belt and hid it,then many days later when he came to where he hid it, its already ruined and useless and it can no longer fulfil the purpose of being worn to the waist,in the same manner although our God is gracious, full of mercy and compassionate, but you might not always have your way. Lets listen and obey to him now than later. You don't want to get to the point of being useless. Lets take for example the belt. This world is revolving, but what if when you discover your purpose things has changed and something else is now being used instead of a belt. You might not be able to recover those times, we no longer use belt and you are still belt🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️. Every word from God counts, every time count lets make sure we are not wasting any of it somewhere else but staying in alignment with our purpose.

@Faithful This made me remember the faithful saying “tomorrow might be too late”. And Hebrews 3:15 also says “while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.””
