Stephen here was filled with the Holy Spirit to teach because they asked him a yes or no question but he gave them a story like he was there when it happened….. I read this chapter yesterday and wondering why this story but familiarity with the story didn’t let me see what the Holy Spirit through Stephen was pointing to, just incase you read it like me yesterday, let’s uncover it together The accusation against Stephen in Acts 6:14 was “he said Jesus will destroy this place (the temple in Jerusalem) and change the customs which Moses delivered to them”. Instead of answering with Yes or No, Stephen decided to tell them a secret not known to man because they reference Moses so much (basically the Pharisees are the keeper of Moses law). In Vs 37, Stephen quoted Deut. 18:15 where Moses said GOD will raise a Prophet like him, Him they shall hear (NKJV uses capital H for Him and those are used when referring to Jesus/GOD) Stephen tried to explain better in Vs 38 that - the Prophet Moses was referring to was the one with the Angel in the wilderness and spoke to Moses through the Angel……. Wait, who is Stephen talking about ? 🤨 Read Exodus 3:2-6, GOD spoke to Moses through the Angel. Okay, doesn’t still answer the Pharisee question, we are talking about Jesus of Nazareth 🤔 Vs 8 of that Exodus 3 says “I have come down to deliver them out- GOD still speaking”. Exodus 14:19 says “And the Angel of GOD, who went before the camp of Isreal, moved and went behind them”- stay with me brethren 🌝 1Cor 10:4; “and all drank the same Spiritual drink. For they drank of that Spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. No wonder Jesus said in John 8:58 “ before Abraham was, I AM…… Back to Stephen story, he was trying to tell them that it is not blasphemy for Jesus to change their old custom (bring clarity to it), it was Jesus Himself that gave Moses all the instructions, led them out of Egypt, and did all through Moses, so HE is greater than Moses………… this is the first time I’m seeing this in this way, that Jesus was with them all through (1Cor 10:4 is new to me) I have lots of findings but can’t share here, findings like they Bible used The Angel and the usage stopped after Christ came in the flesh.

@Eyitope Jesus Christ didn’t just show up in the manger in New Testament. He made surprise visits to the earth even before he was born. Thank God for this revelational knowledge!

Imaging them still killing him after explaining who Jesus is to them! The devil is so smart, he will not make it look like sin to us because if it’s sin, then we won’t do it. Imagine them covering their ears like hearing Jesus standing at the right hand of GOD is a big sin 🤦🏾‍♂️. The devil will mess many Christians up if we don’t have the revelation of knowing, if we don’t have the Holy Spirit to tell us what it is and what it is not. I liked how Luke introduced Saul 🤭🥰, even in Death, Stephen still obeyed Matthew 5:44 and some of us will say “ I can never forgive him/her at all, because of breakfast (heartbreak), this is someone they are stoning to death ooo (No, I mean to SLEEP) Just a thought, we pay too much attention to our body (flesh) that we neglect our Spirit and I believe that’s all to man. Stephen prayed for his Spirit to be received, that’s all to GOD, he left his body for them to do whatever they want. It’s okay to feed the body but is your Spirit healthy too ? That’s all to GOD (John 4:24) if my body will be left here on earth, I think I need to pay more attention to where my spirit will also be because that’s where my consciousness will be afterwards (I’m talking to much and only making sense to myself rn)

@Eyitope You’re right! No matter how long we live here on earth, eternity is much longer. So we need to pay more attention to where we will spend our eternity.

@Eyitope Stephen praying to the point of death stood out to me and remind me of the song I came by prayer, I will stay in prayer and when I leave this world I would go in prayer. Same thing with Jesus Christ when he was leaving he prayed. We we cannot really take ourself out of prayer.

One thing I realized when Stephen was giving the background story of how they all same into existence and when speaking about Moses. I realized how Moses recognized his assignment early which was to defend his people but then he did not have the right knowledge to do so which is the knowledge of God. He had to go through process of pruning in the wilderness for 40 years before birthing his assignment that was 40years after an attempt by his power. We need God, not our self, not our power to really understand what God is asking us to do. We will wait in Gods time, God is never too late. Always on time. Trust God, never skip the process.

Another thing is that it does not matter what men have said to you, what name they’ve called you. It’s the word of God, what God calls you that will stand.
