Funny how these Apostles were skilled men who still worked while preaching the gospel, they don’t want to depend on offering so they can speak their mind and truth freely!. Again I’m learning that in evangelism, don’t argue or debate, say your truth and leave like Paul, there are other souls out there thirsty. GOD said I have many people in this city, meaning city by city, GOD knows those that are HIS. Are you one of His in your city ? GOD telling Paul to continue speaking and not keep quiet shows GOD was proud of him and what he was doing! So GOD listen to Him each time he speaks, he literally speaks the mind of GOD……… let’s have that conscious that in everything we do, GOD is watching, imagine Paul was doing the opposite……..! GOD again did not promised him no attack, but no one will attack him to hurt him for there are many people of GOD there. What I see here is “The higher the number of GOD’s people in a city, the lesser the evil/crime”. Paul was indeed attacked and took to court but nothing came out of it and he left when he was ready.

@Eyitope Another thing I saw was the importance of men, apart for God helping you to do ministry, you need the help of man. When Paul was alone he was helping Aquila and Priscilla as a tent maker because he need to keep up But when Silas and Timothy joined him Verse 5 says Paul devoted himself exclusively to preaching meaning because he was alone before and he need to meet ends need he was not fully into it. But now that they are here to help him he could focus one preaching.

@Eyitope To add to what you said, God telling Paul to keep speaking was all he needed, and in same way we should all learn to depend on God and his words because they never fail or fall to the ground, although discouragement may come and we may feel like giving up but if we can just hold on to God, be patient enough to hear his voice , read and know his words and it will keep you moving. Paul that was at the point of giving up continued for a year and half.

Apollos was mighty in scripture, fervent in the Spirit and thought accurately the things of the LORD but all he knew was John’s ministry! - at first I was wondering how did someone that has no knowledge of Christ be fervent in the Spirit ? But a peak into Chapter 19 shows that verse was talking about his human spirit not Holy Spirit meaning Enthusiasm. Zeal, e.t.c. This shows truth can be accurate, yet incomplete, zeal does not equal full understanding but yet, having that passion for GOD will bring about the completeness and maturity…… if he wasn’t teaching the little he knew from John, there’s no way Aquila and Priscilla would see him to help complete the revelation. We could see his growth in Vs 28. Aquila and Priscilla could have used him to shine by telling him he’s carrying half gist all around publicly, but instead the Bible said - they took him aside (corner) to give him full gist of the salvation story! This is what it means to correct in Love…….. Apollos was probably still expecting Christ and I’m sure some are still like him, they heard John said the greater one is coming but unfortunately they didn’t know the great one has been here already…..,, Now that I’m thinking about it, I think it’s John’s fault, he himself was doubting in Luke 7:19; so he never got the chance to confirm to his followers that Jesus is the one. As a leader, you must know what you believe in and be convinced because you are responsible for lots of followers and again, we should be open to correction, be flexible.

@Eyitope Thank you,Well said Aquila and Priscilla calling Apollos highlights the place of mentoring and discipleship as well in addition to correcting in love. Another thing is that they also know the gospel if they don’t know there’s not way the would be able to tell apart what he was saying because he was learned(very intelligent). I can imagine how much passion he’s going to put into why he’s doing. But what I’m grateful for is his ability to take correction, willingness to know more and eagerness to go out there to still say what he knows.
