@Mary I want us to see this from a simple view ma. Romans 8:30 “Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.” The Bible was talking about US here, so we are all appointed for eternal life, Ephesians 2:8 says it is the gift of GOD…… However, the appointment is not in Adam, it’s in Jesus, so it is a call and response- you have to believe in Jesus to have the gifts in Him……. I believed we are all aware no one was ordained or appointed for death initially, but through one man sin entered the world and through Jesus salvation entered. So it’s like GOD starting over with us the no death life (appointment for eternal life) but in Jesus not the old corrupt Adam.

@Mary Many Christians don’t believe in predestination, but I do. God is the Alpha and Omega, He sees the end from the beginning. One thing I believe is the seats for the marriage supper of the lamb is already set in heaven and on that day no empty seat will be found. You found your way to Christ because you have a seat there and not the other way round. This is my own belief.

66And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus: 77Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God. When the Socerer is a PA to the Vice président, Justice can be perverse. He was probably being paid to render that service. So many people might have perish at his fake prophecies. Probably God wanted to deliver the deputy or the people of that land. Elymas literally withstood paul so that the deputy will not hear the word. This reminds me of certain relationship that are there just to make sure you are doomed in disguise. I pray that we do not get to the point of the deputy. But that we have Holyspirit dwelt among us to discern relationship, job, association and connection.

@Chiemeka thank you for this mama, yes I believe GOD wanted to deliver both the people and the deputy because no way having the son of the devil as PA will yield a good result for the people….. trust me there are many Bar-Jesus out there giving our deputies wrong advice because we the believers are powerless and not involved…. The deputy needed no further preaching to believe to know who’s serving the real GOD

Gods plan is always ultimate and final. If he decides to deliver, he goes to the estreme to do that. Just imagine Saul and Barnabas came to Paphos just to save the deputy. Afterward they left for perga. This reminds me of that fact that sometimes some people come our way for a purpose. Good thing is that the deputy was hungry for the deliverance and God sent it. God sees our heart, let's genuinely look up to him and he will send our helpers. Not one but many

The Holy Spirit saying “separate to me Saul and Barnabas for the work to which I have called them” is telling me- we all have a purpose to fulfill, we all have a calling (not necessary ministry) and it’s unfortunate some will come and go without fulfilling this. Imagine GOD not meeting Saul on his way to Damascus ? These callings have different timings but we have to be in alignment with GOD, constant prayer. The Holy Spirit said “NOW” and i can’t stop asking myself - what has Barnabas been doing ?…… just if you missed it, the scripture said “the works I have called them” Your calling, my calling might require a partner, maybe a spouse self so be nice to everyone. In Acts 9:27; it’s this same Barnabas that took Saul to the Apostles when the disciples won’t let him join them in Jerusalem, that was how Saul was able to escape death. Ask GOD, what is that work to which you have called me for, use me, I am ready!

@Eyitope Right, What has he been doing?? Although already serving the lord, So I really think we should take time and seek the face of God and know what he really want us to do per time. Because what you are doing right now and you think it’s God purpose for you might not be it. You might have not even open your scroll. So I remember watching a drama at a church and it was about scrolls. So this man of God was a pastor and he was doing a lot for God and then there came this judgement day scene and they were reading everything he had done for the lord, the millions of souls he had won and everything and he was smiling about it, but at the end they said you did well but that was not your calling, the angles were like your calling was to become a medical doctor and save lives not a pastor and he broke down and was asking for a second chance to go back and become a medical doctor, but it was already too late. What I’m saying in essence is that we should take time to seek Gods face so as to know he’s plan for us.

One thing I noticed here is, with GOD, time does not count (we are the one that measure with time). Peter literally just got converted day before yesterday (I mean not that long) and he already knows what he carries, his authorities.. I’m saying, you and I are not late, if we walk with GOD and have faith, we can recover those mileage and wield power like the prophet of the old. Another thing I noticed is, you can’t go wrong with the message of Salvation! That’s what everybody keeps preaching and it’s new every time. Who noticed how GOD praised David - a man after My own heart, who will do all My Will. Not some or parts, all GOD’s will and the beginning says - I HAVE FOUND- meaning GOD has been searching…….. GOD is still searching for men and women that will do all His will, will you ? Will I ? The Jews didn’t believe that through believing in Jesus Christ, we can be justified from all things we could not be justified by the law of Moses. They judged themselves unworthy of everlasting life thinking they have to be good, they have to perfect in their righteousness (which is not possible) and I say many are the like the Jews today, judging ourselves already when Christ did not judge us, we focus more on our righteousness like the Pharisee in Luke 18:9-14.

@Eyitope Do we even see how everywhere the go to it was Saul(Paul) that was doing the talking Guys it’s does not matter how long you’ve been in Faith oo, someone who just got converted will meet you and overtake you. Remember Barnabas was the one that mentored Paul . I’m excited about this, we will get to where they later separated

I use to think God changed Paul’s name from Saul to Paul. But Paul is like the gentile version of Saul’s name and it was mentioned for the first time in today’s reading vs 9.
